Quick Evening Stop on Day 6

We had read and seen all about the Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park, so we decided we really wanted to check them out on our way from Bryce Canyon to Zion.

What to do at Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park?

We found out there are several things you can do to enjoy the sand dunes here. We chose to rent a sand sled and go sledding down the sand dunes. They have the option of sand sleds which is sitting down or sand boards where you can stand up like a snowboard. The cost to rent either of these is $25. We rented one sled and took turns. These are rented out at the visitor center. There is not a time limit for these other than making sure you return it that day 30 minutes before the visitor center closes. We did see an area where you can rent ATVs and go on a tour so that is another option

Sledding down the dunes was very fun, however climbing back up the dune was a rather daunting task. We found it extremely difficult to climb up a sand dune. It will put you through a leg workout for sure! We didn’t end up sledding down a lot since we had the dreaded climb back up, but we still had a fun time.

The Aftermath

There will be sand everywhere after you enjoy time at the sand dunes. We had some towels and wipes which came in handy on trying to clean up before getting back in the car. There is a water spigot near the parking lot that can also be used to wash off the sand. Bathrooms are located at that parking lot as well as a covered picnic shelter if you choose to have some lunch there.
